We are a family run business offering a fully mobile service for all your towbar installation and caravan servicing needs. We operate throughout Central and Southern Scotland. All our work is fully insured and guaranteed. Towbar Installations and Caravan Servicing can be carried out at your choice of location and a time that’s convenient for you.
Our technicians are qualified and certified to NTTA (National Trailer and Towing Association) and IMI (Institute of The Motor Industry) standards for towbar installations and are MCEA trained in Caravan Servicing and Repairs.

We will supply and fit towbars and your choice of electrics, including dedicated vehicle wiring which are coded in accordance with your vehicle’s on-board computer to ensure that safety and enhanced features can be enabled (such as cancellation of reverse sensors) when you’re towing

We can also recommend the right towball to meet your towing needs – we supply and fit swan neck, fixed flange and AL-KO towballs.
Detachable towballs are also available, subject to vehicle compatibility.

CARAVAN SERVICING & REPAIRS

FULL SERVICE
Comprehensive service including all items in the Habitation, Chassis and Damp Check Service. Items covered are brakes, chassis and running gear as well as a full interior and main body service. A full service is recommended on an annual basis for touring caravans.
HABITATION SERVICE
The habitation service covers the main body, a damp check and a gas & electricity safety check of the Caravan or Motorhome. Note, running gear is not included in this service. This service type is ideal for caravans on seasonal pitches.
CHASSIS SERVICE
The chassis service includes the running gear but excludes the main body of the Caravan. This service is recommended for caravans that will be towed on the open road.
DAMP CHECKS AND REPAIRS
Will be routinely completed as a part of a full or habitation service, however, as soon as damp is suspected, this service is highly recommended.
Should water ingress be discovered, then repairs can be carried out.
MOTOR MOVERS
We are fully trained and approved fitters of Reich Motor Movers.
Motor Movers enable you to safely and easily manoeuvre your caravan at the touch of a button, or indeed from your Apple or Android device.

WHAT TOWBAR WILL I NEED?
Researching and finding the right towbar for your vehicle can be tricky – there are literally hundreds of towbars available, each one especially designed to fit each make and model of vehicle.
At MVA Towbars, we will liaise with our towbar suppliers to ensure we provide you with the right towbar for your vehicle. All we will need to give you a quote for the right towbar is your vehicle make, model and year of registration.
WHICH ELECTRICS WILL I NEED?
7 pin – all you’ll need for a garden trailer, jet ski, trailer tent. 7 pin electrics will power the standard brake lights, indicators, tail lights, side lights and fog light.
13 pin – this is what you’ll need if you want to power the battery and appliances in your caravan as you tow, for example you have stocked the fridge with food for your holiday and want to keep it cool as you travel. The 13 pin will power the standard brake lights, indicators, tail lights, side lights and fog light.
Twin 7 pin – this will be required if you have an older model caravan (pre 2008) and you need to power the caravan battery and appliances whilst you travel. The twin 7 pin will power the standard brake lights, indicators, tail lights, side lights and fog light.
Vehicle Specific Wiring Kit – this uses the vehicle’s existing wiring loom and connects to various key points throughout the vehicle. These wiring kits access the vehicle’s on-board computer to enable the use of any enhanced safety and towing features that the vehicle may offer.

CAN ALL VEHICLES HAVE A TOWBAR FITTED
No – not all vehicles are able to have a towbar fitted. There are some makes and models that do not meet the minimum requirements for towing. You can check this either in your vehicle handbook or by giving us a call and we can check towbar availability with our suppliers.
DO I NEED A SWAN NECK, FIXED FLANGE OR DETACHABLE TOWBALL
When deciding which towball to have, you should give careful consideration, not only to what you will be towing and using the towbar for, but also to your budget and preference for how the towbar will look on your vehicle. Our team are happy to discuss the options available to you and ensure that the towbar you select will meet your preferences.
HOW LONG WILL THE TOWBAR FITTING TAKE & DO I NEED ANYTHING ON THE DAY?
The time it takes to fit a towbar varies from vehicle to vehicle. You should allow at least 4 hours for the installation.
Before the fitter arrives, please ensure that your vehicle boot has been emptied and your vehicle is safely parked with sufficient space to work around it. This will ensure that our fitter can get to work straight away installing your towbar.
